Stave lesson books for one-teacher studios

Steady, one lesson a week

Keep the time.

Stave keeps the lesson book for a one-teacher studio: one page per family, moves inside your rules.

Teacher's rules
“Changes with a day's notice, please. Two make-up moves a season. A lesson missed without notice is charged; a lesson I cancel never is.”
Ruth's rules moved it. The season's fee did not move.

$12 a month for one teacher. The first month is free.

Start with your own book: write your rules, add your students, send the season's invoices.

In plain words

One book. One teacher. Four things in it.

A page per student

Each family gets one address with their next lesson, their season and the fee on it. No account to make, no app to install.

Rules that answer for you

Notice, make-up moves, teaching hours. You write them once, in your own words, and the page keeps to them when a family asks.

Season fees, not a basket

One invoice per student per season, sent in the first week. A lesson moved inside your rules changes nothing on it.

Nothing else

It does not do payroll, video calls or a school register. If you teach alone, it is built for your book and no one else's.

I · The student's page

One page, and it is theirs.

A family books once and gets one address: their lesson, their season, their fee, and your rules in your own words. This is what the Abrahams see for Mina.

Your rules, printed at the top where nobody can miss them. That is the whole trick.

II · Moving a lesson

They move it themselves.

A parent texts at nine on a Tuesday: can we shift it? Here is what they do instead. The open times are drawn on the week, and so is anything your rules will not allow. Try one.

    III · The season's fees

    Eleven lessons, one sum.

A season is a fixed run of lessons at one price, and the invoice goes out in the first week. Here is what happens to it when a week goes wrong. Change the week and watch the season.

Nobody chases money in October. The season is settled in September and the pencil only comes out when a week goes wrong.

    Who made it

    A teacher, not a platform.

A piano lesson in Ruth's front room: she points at the open music while her student plays.
A Thursday lesson at Ruth's.Example lesson, Bloomington.
Ruth Ellery taught piano from her front room in Bloomington, Indiana for nine years. The book went from a hardcover notebook to a spreadsheet to eleven text threads, and the fees followed it there. Stave is the page she wanted at the end of all that: one book, one address per student, and rules that say no so she does not have to. She still teaches on Mondays and Tuesdays.
