Faderboard

Feature flags · Q13 standing by

Bring it up
slowly.

Every flag is a channel. Every user is a seat. Push a feature to five percent, watch the house, then keep going. Hit blackout and everyone is back on the old show in one press.

Take the desk
npm i @faderboard/node

Free for 3 channels, then $6 a channel a month. SDKs for Node, Python, Go and nine more. Flags evaluate inside your app in under 1 ms.

    Kill switch

Every flag to zero. One press, no deploy.

    How it runs

    The prompt book

A stage manager writes every cue into one book: stand by, then go. Faderboard keeps your release the same way.

    1. SB 1

      Patch a channel.

Plug in your language, install the SDK, then wrap the new thing in one line. It gets a fader on the desk and a strip of tape you can write on.

      npm i @faderboard/node
      if (desk.lit("new-checkout", user.id)) showNewCheckout()

Under 1 ms, on your server. The SDK keeps the whole desk in memory and we stream every fader move to it, so a lit() check never waits on the network. If we ever go dark, your flags hold their last levels.

    2. GO 1

      Bring it up.

At five percent, five seats in a hundred light. Push further and the same seats stay lit, so nobody flickers between the old show and the new one. Seats are hashed on your server, so we see numbers, never who is sitting in them.

    3. SB 2

      Watch the house.

Each channel shows its own errors and refunds beside the fader, pulled from the Datadog, Sentry or OpenTelemetry you already run. You see what the light is doing before you push again.

    4. GO 2

      Write the cue.

Put the next level on the cue sheet with a time, a condition or a merged GitHub or GitLab pull request. When it comes around, GO moves the fader for you and says so in Slack, and you can still grab it.

    5. HOLD

Black out if the house turns.

Every channel to zero in one press. Nothing to deploy and nothing to roll back. The levels wait for you to bring the house back.

    Who runs it

    On the road
    tonight

2,140 desks run on Faderboard, from two-person apps to a credit union. This is what their operators said on headset.

    2. Marcus Bellstaff engineer, ParcelbirdWe took the new driver app from 1 to 100 percent over eleven days of cues. Nobody stayed late for it once.
    3. Priya Natarajanhead of product, Tidewell Credit UnionI write the cues myself now. Engineering finds out in Slack when GO fires.
